2 December 2004

As one of the select companies invited to participate in the Forrester Client Systems Management TechRankings*, Novell today announced that Novell® ZENworks® received high scores in categories such as directory services, policy-based management, server replication, and rollback and recovery.

According to the Forrester Scorecard Summary: Novell ZENworks 6.5, “The Novell ZENworks 6.5 suite provides solid software deployment, asset discovery, and patch management capabilities. The product's underlying directory structure gives it unprecedented policy management capability and real-time connectivity to enterprise directory services.”

Other findings of the TechRankings include:

  • ZENworks leads the market in directory integration. It utilizes the Novell eDirectory™ product as an underlying part of the product architecture but also provides direct connectivity to Active Directory* and support for LDAP integration.
  • ZENworks has the most advanced mobile management of any product evaluated with broad platform support, over-the-air management capability and security management.

“We are pleased with Forrester's assessment of the advantages of directory integration and policy-based management,” said David Litwack, Novell senior vice president and general manager for Identity Services. “As the only major systems management solution that leverages an underlying directory, ZENworks uniquely provides organizations with automated resource management, based on established identities and policies to eliminate administrative burdens.”

Forrester tested seven systems management products in a hands-on, scenario-based laboratory process and scored them on approximately 200 criteria. Testing occurred in September 2004, and results were published in the November 2004 Client Systems Management TechRankings.
